Eating nectarines is a healthy way to include many vitamins and minerals in your diet

People often ask us what the difference is between peaches and nectarines. They are actually the same species even though they are sold as different fruits. The difference is that peaches have fuzz on their skins and nectarines do not. They are also often smaller, sweeter and have a distinctive aroma and intense flavor – what some people describe as a spicy “zing.” And the stone inside is smaller and flatter. The name ‘nectarine’ is derived from a German word that means sweet as nectar. But they are also incredibly healthy. Like their siblings, the peach, nectarines are low in calories and naturally fat and cholesterol free. They’re also packed with vitamins C and A, carotene, potassium and antioxidants.
